Today I introduced a new project in Photoshop 1. The students have to create a surreal world located inside another object. Here are a few examples from last semester’s students. Guidelines- it cannot be two images blended (ie. no sunset through a key hole.) It can be photo based or digitally painted, and when the artwork is finished it is to become an advertisement for a product for purchase.

I want wonky and crazy situations. Like the ones below. This first image was painted from scratch in Photoshop. Look into her chalice… a tempest with sea creatures.

Below is a photo based project that illustrates the lifestyle you too could live if only you would consume Gatoraid.

George’s vessel below is the human skull and it demonstrates what happens when you play your music too loud.

And Ummy’s piece below is a hybrid photo-based/ digital painting. It’s a silly and sweet mash up. I look forward to seeing the sketches students bring to class next Thursday.
